New book Review

My newest book review is an amish book "Becoming Bea" by Leslie Gould. It is the forth book in
"The courtships of Lancaster County". I am given a book to read by Bethany House and my only
requirement is to give an honest review on my blog.
When I first started reading the book, I wondered if I would like it being written in first person.
But as I continued to read it I had a hard time putting it down.
The story centers around Beatrice Zook, a strong willed amish girl who always seems to
have to get in the last word. Her family is planning a trip to Montana, and Bea's mother told
Bea that the only way she would be able to stay at home was to have a job.
Bea found a job helping a couple who just had triplets. And Bea doesn't know a thing about
taking care of babies, but will do anything to get out of going on this trip.
Bea also finds out that her childhood friend Ben Rupp also works for the same couple. Neither Bea or
Ben will admit they have feelings for each other due to their bickering.
Will they eventually find true love, or is their relationship damaged beyond repair.
You will have to read the book to find out, a good read!!!!
The amish have a special place in my heart, and as I read stories about the amish,
I learn alot about their culture and way of life, and this book is no exception.

Wonderful weekend.

This past weekend me and two of my friends spent the weekend at our farmhouse in WV.
We ate alot, laughed alot and talked alot. he he
Sat. we took a drive into different areas of WV.
Our first stop was Smoke Hole Caverns, we only went into the gift shop, but next year we plan on taking the caverns tour. Then we went to Senica Rock in Cabins, WV. On to "Blackwater Falls", state park in Tucker Co. WV, then to the littlest church and PO in Silver Lake, WV.(There are 6 benches, where 2 people can set, a total of 12 people). We were on scenic highway 48 some of the trip and what awesome views, on the way home we were near Mt. Storm, WV were we saw all of these awesome windmills. My one friend Barbara doesn't want her picture on the internet, so I will honor her request. What an awesome fun weekend.

New Flooring

Have you ever planned on a weekend project and it ended up taking a couple weeks? That is what seems to always happen to us. Part of our living room floor had begun to dip in the middle, with
our house being older we were so afraid of some sort of structural damage. So we had to tear up a large portion of our floor to check it out. I am so thankful that we couldn't find one bit of structural damage. Underneath the living room floor is my hair salon, I kept telling Ronnie to be careful and not go through the ceiling tile. He did fine, but guess who went through the ceiling, me. But thank goodness I was fine, I just bruised my legs a little and had a few scrapes, and I caught on some rafters, so I didn't go all of the way through.
We reinforced the floor with more boards and leveled it out. Then we applied laminate flooring over top. So far I am so proud of it and like it. It had good reviews and Bo my doggy's toenails doesn't seem to scratch the flooring. So here is a few pictures of our flooring project. All of our hardwork was worth it.

Some new creations.

I recently made a few prims. I love prairie dolls, so I made two standing ones and two setting ones.
I gave one of the standing ones as a swap gift, to  Jean-"Prim Crafts" . And I gave a friend one of the setting ones.
I love the standing dolls, but don't know how to use a saw, so I was able to get my husband to help me with the bases. I was pleased with how they all turned out. I usually don't keep anything that I make for myself, but did recently make myself a crow doll, I will attach photo's of her.
The prairie dolls are inspired by a "Sweetmeadows Farm" pattern and the crow doll by "A Smiling Goat Primitives" pattern.

If you are interested in the setting prairie doll in the blue dress I am asking $36.99 plus shipping and the standing prairie doll with the blue bonnet I am asking $41.99 plus shipping.(She also
comes with the pumpkin she is holding).  Email me if you
would like to purchase or have any questions. I accept paypal or MO. "Farmhouse Prims"

A Bride in Store

I am a book reviewer for "Bethany House", I am given a book to read in exchange for an honest review. The book that I just finished was "A Bride in Store", by Melissa Jagears. It is the second in a series. I will say as good as it was,
I was a little disappointed. It wasn't quite as good as the first book,
but overall it was a good book and I do recommend it. The story centers around Eliza Cantrell, who sets out to meet her husband to be. Sadly her train was robbed and she was brutally hit in the face with a gun and all of her money was taken.
She arrives in town a week early to find that her husband to be is out of town on business, which seems to happen alot. Her husband is co-owner of a store with another man William Staunton, who
is only working at the store until he can get enough money to attend medical school.
He is so kind and good to everyone, and Eliza is attracted to Will from the start. Sparks begin to fly
but Eliza and Will both know that Eliza is spoken for.
Finally Axel, Eliza's husband to be returns, but their troubles are far from over. Will and Eliza realize that they must sacrifice to be with each other, or is that even possible if they want to chase their dreams.
I do recommend this book and think that Melissa Jagears is a wonderful author. A must read.
