New kitchen faucet and bedroom closet doors.

Since I am off for the summer from my school job I am tackling some major cleaning that I haven't done for a long time. I am still working in my hair salon, but have been doing some major cleaning on my days off. I have alot accomplished, but alot still to do. I have washed windows, cleaned kitchen cabinets Defrosted my old freezer. I am cleaning out drawers and closets. I want to get these jobs completed so I can enjoy the summer. I want to do some fun things with my grandchildren. I have been trying to get things together to have a yard sale with my friend in July. And I hate yard sales .But I am hoping to get rid of a few things to help buy some new flooring for my LR.
I don't know if you are like me or not, but I get really excited when I am able to do things to my house, even little things. Like painting my kitchen cabinets. I love my big old kitchen sink but wanted a new farmhouse style faucet. My husband installed one today for me and I love it.
I have never shown any pictures of my bedroom on my blog because it always looked like
I was ready to have a rummage sale and I was embarrassed. I decided this year to do some major decluttering in my bedroom. Last year I thought about doing it, but the more I would think about
doing that major cleaning I would grab my purse and get in my car and take off down the road. he he
I  put a new quilt on my bed, that I had in the packages for at least 3 years, and put up my new curtains. What a difference that made.
I had old sliding bifold closet doors which were ancient. My husband recently installed new
closet doors and I painted them wicker white to make the room more open and lighter. Added a peg
rack which I hung a dress and bonnet and ditty doll that I made.
I have also been buying a few fall patterns that I want to make before school starts. I love making
fall prims. I have alot of big plans for the summer.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.

My finished quilt!!!!

If you have been keeping up with my blog you know that I have worked for months on a quilt top
with all of my leftover crafting fabric. It is called the "Disappearing Nine Patch" pattern.
I don't have a long arm quilting machine or a frame to hand quilt and I wanted my quilt to look nice,
so I had a lady quilt it for me. She did an awesome job, I am so proud of the finished quilt.
I told her to use a light tan backing with some print in case I wanted to reverse the quilt and a chocolate border. I also told her to use whatever design that she would like for the quilting pattern,
she chose a flowered design and it is beautiful.
Now for pictures of my finished scrappy quilt.

Reminds me of Joseph's Coat of many colors
Love the color or the backing

Each square was a memory of something I had crafted, bonnets to a table runner, to doll dresses.

My favorite quilt squares made from civil war reproduction fabric, from my table runner class

Love the flowered quilting design

So very proud of my very first quilt!

A wonderful visit and painted kitchen cabinets.

I hope everyone is enjoying your Memorial Day weekend and remembering the true reason that we
are celebrating Memorial Day. It is a day to remember our men and women of the armed forces that
have given their lives so that we can live in freedom in this wonderful country!
My husband has an uncle that came for a visit from Washington State, we had a cookout and
enjoyed laughing and talking with him. His name is Nathan Everett, he has written several books and is going to have another book published this summer. He writes alot of mysteries.

My daughter Steph and niece Chanel

Ronnie, Uncle Nathan, my BIL Keith and my son Luke
There are many things I would love to do to our house, but with two properties that we take care of
we can't do any extensive remodeling at this time.
So my remodeling usually consists of painting.
I have painted my kitchen cabinets 3 times in the last several years, the last time I painted them
I painted them black. I liked the black, but was ready for something different. So I decided to paint them "Homestead Resort Olive". I was going to do the painting by myself but my hubby said no way, was he going to let me do it all by myself. He told me that Mother's Day wasn't over yet and that
he was going to continue with the celebration! I love that man! Tomorrow we will have a small
cookout with our kids and grandkids and make homemade ice cream with an old woodend crank ice cream maker.
My kitchen is small and L-shaped so I have to take several photo's so that you can see the whole kitchen.

This is when I tried to distress my cabinets and before our new flooring.

I had to take these photo's from FB, since I lost all of my photo's on my computer awhile back.
Love the green, it is valspar paint, called "Homestead Resort Olive"

Love my bunting flag over my sink.

My kitchen is small but I love my big kitchen sink.

Love decorating my hoosier for the different holidays.

Continue to pray for my daughter.

I just wrote a big long blog post just to find out that it was on my selling blog, so here we go again.
As I have posted before my daughter is type 1 diabetic and has dealt with an eating disorder
diabulimia for pretty much the last 10 years. Diabulimia is a disorder where you withhold insulin to loose weight. It has been 10 years of hell to put it mildly. I have cried and prayed and cried and prayed. When she was having terrible pain from neuropathy, (painful nerve pain). I felt guilty even sleeping when I knew she couldn't. It is horrible to watch someone you love suffer, It is almost unbearable.
She has a blog now here is the link if you would like to read about her journey.
Steph's Blog
She is also in a support group on Facebook that has really helped her.
I know that the Lord has a plan for her life and that she will come out on top and be able to
help others going through this same disorder.
And finally she has health insurance, she is in the process of getting an insulin pump, I am so excited. I pray that she likes it and it will help with the low blood sugars and keep her blood sugars more regulated. I constantly worry about her having low blood sugars. I hate diabetics.
I thank the Lord for how far he has brought her and know he has greater plans for her life.
Her husband and children need her so bad as well as me her mamma.
I appreciate all of your prayers for her.

I need some professional opinions

I finally finished my quilt top, what a long project. I have a new appreciation for quilters. First cutting over 500 squares, then sewing into 9 patch squares, then the disappearing 9 patch squares 56 is the total that I made. I made a queen size quilt. I tried to place my squares so that
all the colors would be in different areas, but I see one area that is all blue, Oh, well,
I will just call it the coat of many colors with a huge patch of blue. he he With my small machine I don't think I could quilt a huge
quilt. And I don't have a quilting frame to do it by hand.
With all the work put into the quilt I don't think I will knot it either. I am going to have someone
machine quilt it for me. I need help choosing a fabric for the backing as well as what color to have
the binding, (the edge color).
All suggestions will be considered, I am leaning towards the quilting to be some floral design,
and the backing to be a tan with maybe a small calico print. And the binding to be a dark Chocolate Brown, I had even thought that a black binding would be pretty.
I am open to all suggestions, or would you just go for a cream color for the backing?
Also I have been putting out some of my Americana decor and forgot about this awesome doll
that Trish Ladybug sent me last year. She used to have a blog but doesn't anymore. But we still
stay in touch. I love the doll and most of all I cherish our friendship.
Trish sent me a surprise package and one of the items was a a doll, I had her on a shelf in my spare bedroom and forgot to get her out. I brought her out today and placed her on the old barnwood
cabinet that my hubby bought me last week, isn't she adorable. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

I have always wanted a window box, would love to have them at all my windows, but I finally
got one, I can't wait until the flowers start to trail down the sides.Thought I 'd share a photo of it also.
