Some things I have been working on!

I have had a few projects that I have been working on that I needed to finish up. I have attempted to make

my first ever penny rug. I watched a few tutorials on  you tube to learn the blanket stitch. I had bought a

pattern but was afraid it was too difficult. So I just found a coloring book page, I added more grass and

added two stars. I have a new respect for you girls that make penny rugs, they are time comsuming.

But lots of fun.

I have found out that wool is very expensive, even
the wool felt was $10.99 per yard.

I just love this sitchery candly mat, I got the pattern off of etsy, it is a Heartberry Charm pattern. I love how it looks like a penny rug, but is a stitchery.
It actually said Hallows Eve on it and I changed it to Happy Fall, I usually decorate with alot of
fall things, that way I can leave them up until I decorate for Christmas.

Lovely blue fabric I found, wish I would have gotten more.

Lovely cinnamon brown fabric, wish I would have gotten more of this also. It seems like most peoples favorite fabrics for bonnets are the blues and browns.

A collection of the new style of bonnets that I have made up.

A new fall table runner, I made.

  1. Your penny rug turned out good for your first try. I love penny rugs and haven't tried to make one either. The blanket stitch is time consuming.
Since we don't have any fabric stores close by I haven't any supplies to try one. Our local Walmart only carries small felt squares. Maybe I will try my hand at some felt candle mats instead. I love the fall pattern you put on yours.
    Great job.

  2. Holy crow, Lecia! You've been busy! Your very first penny rug turned out great! And I LOVE your stitchery that looks like a penny rug. :)
The picture of your bonnets hanging all in a row like that made me think of a quilting bee where all the ladies hung their bonnets near the door when they came in. :)
And the fabric on that runner looks so perfect for Fall. Great job on everything! Thanks for sharing it all. :)

  10. Hi Lecia: You have been busy. I looooove your first penny rug..it's perfect! wonderful job. love, love that stitchery penny rug-just beautiful!!!!! your runner is cute too!
use your coupons for the wool and even better yet go to thrift shops and buy wool clothes and cute them up. wool scarves make terrific runners as they are already rectangular shape. I found a stunning heavy wool scarf for .99
keep your eyes peeled at yard sales too! As usual your bonnets are darling!

You have been busy! I love that penny rug! You did a great job with the blanket stitch! That's why I don't do stitcheries to sell~ they are very time consuming and people don't much want to pay for them around here.
    Keep up the great work!

  14. Oh, my! You do stay busy. I have been so busy lately with this blogger's board and running my brother around that I can't even keep my house clean! Now, this week, it's time to start canning. Today, I am making jalapeno jelly and yellow tomato soup. Both will be small batches so it should be easy enough. Mike wants me to make a batch of pico de gaillo and some refrigerator bread 'n butter pickles, too.
I am seriously loving the stitchery/penny rug. very cute....

  18. Wonderful job, Lecia - could have fooled me that was your "first!" Wowsers!! And your bonnets - well, you know - they're not only addicting, they're legendary!! Love that brown one!! You really can produce, can't you?! Puts my paltry little finishes to shame (especially since they were mostly "done" for some time - all I needed to do was FINISH!!) (arghhhh...I don't like that word much at all!!) And, welcome to the wool hoarders' club! ;o) Hope you're having a happy Sunday! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
