New Table Runner

Well I am finally out of school for the Summer, I have so many things that I want to do before school
starts in the fall. I have my windows washed and my kitchen cabinets cleaned. That is one thing off of my bucket list. I want to clean some closets, drawers etc. I am still working in my hair salon and helping with my mom. I want to spend some time doing some fun things with my grandchildren and
of course I want to do some crafting.
I was able to finish a quilted table runner, it was alot harder than I thought it would be. I had to watch a you tube video on how to put on binding about 4 times before I finally figured it out.
I also quilted the table runner with the stitch in the ditch method.

Here are some photo's of my table runner.
The finished top, it was like putting a puzzle together

Summer is finally here!

It sure has been awhile since my last post. I had just been so busy working full time at school and doing hair a few evenings a week and on some Saturdays. It is a rewarding job being a school nurse,
I could have cried yesterday when the 5th. graders graduated. Many of them gave me a hug goodbye.
My mom fell and broke her hip in Feb. and had hip surgery. She was in the hospital twice last month,
she was retaining fluid and it had to be removed. After many tests it was confirmed that she has NASH non-alchoholic cirhossis of the liver. It was a shock even though liver problems run in my moms family. 30 pounds of fluid was drawn off of her and then she was all confused and admitted to the hospital again. She had ammonia on her brain from her liver and the fluid pills she was on was making her loose so much fluid that all of her electrolytes were low.
It is very hard seeing my mom like this, she is so weak and is mostly confined to a chair.
My sisters and myself and my dad are doing our best to help her get her strength back so that
she can enjoy life again. Please keep my mom in your prayers. It is hard seeing my mom being so sick.
I know the summer will fly and I have big plans, I need to do some extra house cleaning, spend some fun time with my grandbabies and hopefully do a little crafting. I have missed crafting so much.
I want to show a few pictures of some of my flowers, some of my garden, some of my Americana decor and two new patterns I just bought. Wishing you all a beautiful Summer!!!

Wonderful surprise in the mail and new project

Yesterday I received an act of kindness package from my dear friend, Trish "ladybug",,
she used to have a blog but closed it. We still keep in close contact and have developed a
wonderful friendship.
She sent me some of her heirloom sunflower seeds and also some sunflowers that I am going to
dry. I think I will dry them and display them in an old bowl.
Thank you Trish, your act of kindness has touched my heart. Most of all I cherish our friendship.
With working so many hours my crafting is on the back burner, I am working on a project
from Briar Roots Primitives, it is a pillow with some wool applique, I am probably about
half way through, I will show pictures when I finish. I just can't wait, I really love the wool applique, and love old mason jars.

Spring Break

This past week was Spring Break at school, so did I ever have a busy week, I did hair two days in my hair salon, had a Dr. appointment, went to visit my parents, got my car inspected and oil changed, went to an outlet mall and did manage to finish two small crafts. I made myself a Summer banner and I finished a penny rug project. What do you think??

Busy as a Bee

In January my entire life changed. I took a full time nursing job at one of our local schools, and I didn't want to give up my hair business so I am doing that 2 evenings a week and Sat. I have to admit that is alot on my plate, especially with trying to do errands, laundry and keep my house half way clean. But I feel I am finally adjusting. I took the school job because I love the kiddies and I hope I can make a small difference in their lives. The plus to having a school job is having summers and holidays off plus snow days.
Then my poor mom fell on Feb. 29th. and broke her hip, the same leg that she had a broken femur
3 years ago. The Dr. had to do surgery, take out the old rod, pins and screws and put in another one.
So after her hospital stay she had to go to rehab for a few weeks and finally got home Sat.
I think she was sent home too soon, but her insurance would only pay for so many days.
I miss crafting so much, I will have to do my Christmas crafting this summer,
I was able awhile back to finish a penny rug, but that is all that I have been able to accomplish in crafting..
Yesterday my children and grandchildren were here for Easter, we had such a fun relaxing day.
I cherish my family time. I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!!! I will show a few pictures.
Wishing everyone a beautiful Spring.

Painting class

Last Sat. my granddaughter and I took a painting class. We painted a snowman face on a basket lid.
We had so much fun, laughing and sharing a fun day. I am already wanting to make some of these for
Christmas gifts. I am ready to take another class.

My granddaughter Riley spent the night with us and she had to get ready for her eighties Birthday party, what do you think.
